2012 Social Services Grants

Grants in this area cover a broad range of community issues of interest to the Foundation.  Broadly stated, they cover the areas of: youth programs, food aid, affordable housing, and patient quality of life.  (Total grants $157,000)

Adler Aphasia Center, Maywood, NJ.  $5,000 to support training and education programs for healthcare professionals.

Alzheimer’s Association of Northern California, Mountain View, CA.  $10,000 to support the Memories in the Making program.

Amputee Coalition of America, Knoxville, TN.  $10,000 to support their Youth Camp.  

Challenged Athletes Foundation, San Diego, CA.  $5,000 to support the Catch a Rising Star program.  

Chronicle Season of Sharing Fund, San Francisco, CA.  $2,000 to support the Fund, which, through a network of community service agencies, provides assistance to people living at or below the San Francisco Bay Area poverty level.  The majority of assistance goes towards housing and other critical needs.

City Harvest, New York, NY.  $10,000 to support the Healthy Neighborhoods Initiative.

First Descents, Greenwood Village, CO.  $7,500 to support camp programs.

God's Love We Deliver, New York, NY.  $10,000 to support the cost of home-delivered meals and nutrition counseling.

Habitat for Humanity, New York, NY.  $15,000 to support their National Service (AmeriCorps/VISTA) program.

Habitat for Humanity Greater San Francisco, San Francisco, CA.  $15,000 to support their National Service (AmeriCorps/VISTA) program.

Can Do Multiple Sclerosis, Edwards, CO.  $10,000 to support the Center’s CAN DO medical programs.

Make A Wish Foundation, San Francisco, CA.  $10,000 to support wish fulfillment.

The Painted Turtle Camp, Malibu, CA.  $5,000 to support attendance by Bay Area youth at the organization’s medical camp programs.

Project Open Hand, San Francisco, CA.  $10,000 to support the Homebound Critically Ill program.

Roundup River Ranch, Avon, CO.  $2,500 for general operating funds.

Second Harvest Food Bank, San Jose, CA.  $10,000 to support the produce distribution efforts.

Treasure Island Sailing Center, San Francisco, CA.  $5,000 to support their youth sailing program.

Star Vista Redwood City, CA.  $10,000 to support Youth Development Projects at Sequoia High School.

Youth Enrichment Strategies, Richmond, CA.  $5,000 to support their summer and family camp programs.
