2013 Education Grants

Grants in this area are focused primarily on improving research opportunities for science students.  Additionally, the Foundation supports medical training in the areas of rural practice and humanism.  The Foundation also supports programs to improve high school science education and college campus student safety.  (Total grants $185,010)

American Indian College Fund, Denver, CO.  $10,500 to support scholarships for students at tribal colleges pursuing teaching or science degrees with the intent to serve as science teachers.

Arnold P. Gold Foundation, Englewood, NJ.  $20,000 to support Student Summer Research Fellowships and the Research Institute.

Bowdoin College, Brunswick, ME.  $10,000 to support summer internships in business and government.

The Clery Center for Security On Campus, King Of Prussia, PA.  $10,000 to support expansion of the Safe On Campus Peer Education Program.  

Columbia University, New York, NY.  $20,000 for a summer fellowship to the Summer Research Program for secondary school science teachers.

Council On Foundations, Washington, DC.  $1,010 to support their membership programs that promote and enhance responsible and effective philanthropy.

Dartmouth College, Hanover, NH.  $20,000 to support undergraduate leave-term scientific research. 

Dartmouth Medical School, Lebanon, NH.  $5,000 to support the Rural Health Scholars Program.

The Edible Schoolyard Project, Berkeley, CA.  $10,000 to support the Edible Schoolyard Academy.

El Camino Youth Symphony, Palo Alto, CA.  $1,000 to support general operating activities of the Symphony, which offers advanced music learning and performance opportunities to many local young musicians.  

Manhattan Theatre Club, New York, NY.  $5,000 to support their education programs.  

Meritus College Fund, San Francisco, CA.  $5,000 to support their scholarship retention program - Connections.

Roundabout Theater Company, New York, NY.  $10,000 to support their education programs.

Stanford University, Stanford, CA.  $20,000 to support the Student Grants Program for undergraduate scientific research.

University of Nebraska Foundation, Omaha, NE.  $15,000 to support scholarships for the Accelerated Family Practice Residency Program at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. 

University of Puget Sound, Tacoma, WA.  $20,000 to support student scientific research.

Writopia Lab, New York, NY.  $2,500 to support the Many Voices Fund.
